Technical Data

Aluminum cylinders, available in different alloys with different hardnesses, are obtained by cutting the aluminum wire into pieces of the same diameter. Therefore, it is obviously different from cast aluminum sand, because the grains have the same size and the same chemical-physical characteristics.
In addition, the nature of the material (drawn wire) and the production system exclude the presence of impurities and grains with inclusions, cavities, blowing, cracks, etc.
It should also be noted that, despite having a cylindrical shape, this abrasive acquires a spherical-polyhedral shape in a few processing cycles. This shape is then maintained, albeit in the face of a progressive reduction in diameter, throughout life without giving rise to crushing episodes.

The aluminum cylinder is characterized by its limited hardness and low specific weight. This feature makes it particularly suitable for blasting and blasting aluminum and zamac parts when easy cleaning with limited surface roughness is required. Hollow in aluminum cylinders offer the following advantages compared to other abrasives:
- significant reduction in consumption compared to other types of abrasives;
- reducing the consumption of shot blasting machine spare parts, consequently, maintenance costs and machine downtime.
- the possible fixation of the granulation in the holes of the sandblasted part does not create problems for further processing with tools due to the high deformability and low hardness of aluminum.

The aluminum cylinder can be used without distinction with turbine systems, with free jet sandblasting and with cabins for sandblasting with compressed air pressure with excellent performances. However, the granules themselves are not suitable, for technical reasons, for use in vacuum blasting cabinets.
