Brown Microcrystalline
- Manufacturer: Techma
- Material: Corundum
Technical Data
Corundum is an aluminum oxide (Al2O3) crystallized in the trigonal system. It is present in nature as a mineral and some of these varieties, of different colors, are precious stones: sapphire (blue), ruby (red), emerald (green) and amethyst (purple).
In the industrial field, due to the low cost compared to the natural one, synthetic corundum is used, obtained by melting bauxite (aluminum hydroxide).
The fields of application are diverse, including sandblasting and abrasive wheels.
It is a non-toxic abrasive, free of free silicon dioxide and components harmful to health, unlike other cheaper products used for sandblasting.
The high degree of purity and total absence of impurities make it possible to obtain perfectly clean surfaces prepared for further processing. It also allows the treatment of noble metals, plastic materials, glass, stainless steel, and use in the dental, goldsmithing, etc. sectors.
The angular grain, high hardness (9 Mohs: only one point lower than diamond), exceptional abrasive capacity and good impact resistance make it particularly suitable for sandblasting especially in recirculating systems.
The wide range of grain sizes and different types available make it possible to obtain roughnesses and degrees of surface finish suitable for multiple needs.
Can be used with free jet blasting and in blasting cabinets with compressed air or vacuum.
