Garnet Sand
- Manufacturer: Techma
- Material: Garnet
Date Tehnice
The sandblasting garnet proposed by Techma is composed of grains of Almandite, one of the hardest and most tenacious minerals known.
It is a mineral belonging to the Garnet group with the chemical formula Fe3Al2(SiO4)3.
It is chemically inert, free of silica and any toxic metal and therefore guarantees a safe working environment with low disposal costs compared to other cheaper abrasives for blasting.
Being free of ferrite, it is particularly suitable for blasting stainless steel, non-ferrous metals, glass, marble, etc. as well as for cleaning building facades.
It is characterized by high hardness and hardness (7.5 / 8.0 Mohs), good specific gravity (4.1 kg/dm³) and low friability.
All this allows obtaining, thanks to the low consumption, high productivity and the possibility of being reused several times, sandblasting at low costs.
Can be used with free jet blasting and in blasting cabinets with compressed air or vacuum.
Its low friability (it can be recycled from 4 to 7 times) and its hygroscopicity make sandblasting garnet particularly suitable both for high pressure water jet cleaning (1000bar / 15000psi) and especially for water or water jet cutting of steel profiles and natural stone slabs.
