Technical Data

Ceramic microspheres consist of zirconium (ZrO2) crystals embedded in a glassy matrix. Chemically inert and spherical in shape, it generates a good surface finish creating a satin-like effect.

The main characteristics of ceramic microspheres are:
- high hardness for the best sandblasting results.
- high toughness and therefore a long service life of the abrasive.
- reduced dust formation during the sandblasting process
- reduced contamination of the sandblasted surface.

They are suitable for sandblasting most metal surfaces (steel, stainless steel, aluminum, brass, etc.). They are also used for tempering or graining to increase the fatigue resistance of treated parts.

Having a relatively low specific weight, they are used with free jet blasting and in blasting cabinets with compressed air under pressure or vacuum, but, with the appropriate adjustment of the blasting, they can also be used in turbine blasting machines.
