Glass Microspheres (Shot Peening)
- Manufacturer: Techma
- Material: Cut-wire Glass
Technical Data
Glass microspheres are an abrasive product without free silicon, obtained by solidifying tempered sodium glass.
The scope of application is wide, but it is mainly used for the faulting of thin springs, in the aerospace sector and for stainless steel parts.
It does not alter the dimensions, shapes or any sharp edges of the treated details, leaving a surface with minimal roughness and a softened profile.
Good crush resistance makes them particularly suitable for mishandling, especially in recirculating systems.
It can be used with free jet sandblasting, in sandblasting booths with compressed air, pressure or vacuum, both dry and wet:
- the dry jet (suctioned or pressurized air) shortens processing times and allows obtaining high yields;
- the wet jet makes the impact of the abrasive "softer", giving rise to finishes with minimal roughness values.
